Summary:
The Sales Manager – Optimization Solutions will be supported by a commercially driven and technically capable Sales Manager to support the growth of our Digital Optimization solutions across North America. This role involves engaging customers, developing opportunities, and closing strategic deals that advance utility scale wind turbine performance, diagnostics, and controller performance optimization to improve both reliability and generate additional energy. This role will work closely with the Director of Sales for Digital Solutions in North America to drive order entry, order book, revenue and profit margin targets for the region.
Requirements:
- Supports regional go‑to‑market activities for digital wind optimization across the US and Canada in alignment with the North American sales strategy.
- Develops territory plans, identifies prospects, and builds early‑stage engagement across utilities, IPPs and Investment Funds.
- Delivers a deal pipeline, progressing the pipeline to build a robust orderbook and close contracts with key customer targets.
- Conducts outreach, discovery meetings, and initial value assessments with customers.
- Conducts technically credible discussions around diagnostics, SCADA/CMS/PLC insights, upgrades and digital optimization benefits.
- Assists in preparing proposals, commercial models, and customer presentations.
- Supports negotiations and deal progression in collaboration with senior sales leaders.
- Works with product and engineering teams to align customer needs with solution capabilities.
- Provides customer feedback to help refine analytics, operational tools, digital twins, and control enhancement solutions.
- Coordinates with delivery and customer success teams for smooth implementation.
- Works with legal and contracting teams to execute customer agreements related to solution offerings.
- Tracks regional policy, operational trends, and turbine performance challenges across ISO/RTO and Canadian markets.
- Represents RES at customer meetings, workshops, and select industry events.
- Maintains accurate CRM records and forecasting using Salesforce.
- Identifies early upsell and cross‑sell opportunities across diagnostics, SaaS, and retrofit offerings.
- Attends work regularly and punctually, as scheduled or expected.
- Complies with Employee Handbook, Code of Conduct and Company Policies & Procedures.
Additional Responsibilities:
Presents, supports, and leads-by-example with a safety and quality-oriented attitude.
Reports to cross-functional teams or leadership regarding market and solution-focused aspects of wind optimization strategy at RES Digital Solutions.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, renewable energy, or related technical discipline preferred.
- 3 or more years of experience in wind energy (renewables accepted), technical sales, account management, or related fields preferred.
- Ability to travel domestically 31-50% required.
- Strong communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to conduct solution‑based customer conversations.
- Commercial awareness and early‑stage opportunity qualification.
- Comfort with SaaS and digital technologies.
- Understanding of North American wind markets, asset owners and stakeholders.
- Understanding wind operations value chain and evolution.
- Familiarity with turbine operations, SCADA/CMS data, and basic diagnostics concepts.
- Awareness of digital optimization approaches such as analytics and control tuning3–6 years in wind energy, technical sales, account management, or related fields.
- Experience engaging with utilities, IPPs, OEMs, or ISPs preferred.
- Exposure to digital tools, analytics, or performance improvement initiatives.
- Functional competencies include customer focus, agility, collaboration, communication, and prioritization.
Anticipated base salary range: $108,000 - $135,000
The final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. This position is bonus eligible.
